THIN CLIENT IN CLOUD COMPUTING

Image
Cloud Client A  Cloud Client  consists of computer hardware and/or software that relies on cloud computing for application delivery. A Cloud Client could also be specifically designed for delivery of cloud services. In either case, the Cloud Client is essentially useless without Cloud Services. Examples of Cloud Clients include some computers(thick and thin), phones and other devices, operating systems and browsers. What is thin client?? A thin client is a stateless, fanless desktop terminal that has no hard drive. All features typically found on the desktop PC, including applications, sensitive data, memory, etc., are stored back in the data centre when using a thin client. A thin client running Remote Desktop Protocols (RDP), like Citrix ICA and Windows Terminal Services, and/or virtualization software, accesses hard drives in the data centre stored on servers, blades, etc. Thin clients, software services, and backend hardware make up thin client...

BOOTSTRAPPING / BOOTING of an OPERATING SYSTEM

Image
Computers are incredibly dumb, all they're doing is following instructions and perform complicated tasks; they seem to have some kind of ability but actually  all they're doing is repeating one instruction after another and thus they need softwares  to do everything. Even just to boot up , it needs to have an initial program to run called bootstrap program. Alternatively referred to as  bootstrapping ,  bootloader , or  boot program , a  bootstrap loader  resides in the computer's  EPROM ,  ROM , or other  non-volatile memory . It is automatically executed by the processor when turning on the computer   and in case changes need in bootstrap code then ROM CHIPS are changed eg: EEPROM(Electrically Erasable Programmable ROM).   Here Advantages of ROM over RAM: ROM can't be changed whereas RAM is highly volatile and static programs i.e bootstrap program must resides in ROM. Rom is convenient as it ne...

NFS-Hard and Soft MOUNT ( JUST LINUX/UNIX THINGS )

Image
In LINUX system, everything is a file and if not , then it is a process. Now,  to share out data on a central server (for ex, your music collection) to all the PCs in the house NFS comes into picture. NFS (NETWORK FILE SYSTEM): NFS is a file system developed by SUN Microsystems ,Inc.It is a client/server system that allows users to access/mount Linux files/disc/dirrectories across a network and treat them as if they are resided in a local file directory. An NFS server can export one or more directories that can be mounted on a remote Linux machine. Note: If you need to mount any Linux filesystem on Windows machine, you need to use Samba/CIFS instead. Here are some examples of when to use Samba and when to use NFS: Server O/S Client O/S Use Samba or NF...
